The Kernewek Creative Residency 2026

Endelienta Arts is delighted to invite applications for the Kernewek Creative Residency 2026, delivered in partnership with Cornwall Council, Creative Kernow and Lowender.

This six-day residential programme brings together four creatives to explore how Cornwall's living language can inspire and influence their creative practice.

You don't need to speak Cornish to take part. Instead, the residency explores what happens when one of Europe's oldest living languages becomes part of your creative process.

Who is it for?

For 2026, we're looking for creatives whose primary practice uses words to tell stories, including:

• Poets

• Spoken word artists

• Novelists

• Playwrights

• Scriptwriters

• Comedians

• Storytellers

• Gaming narrative designers

• Lyricists

• Podcast writers

• Digital storytellers

You do not need to speak Cornish to apply.

What happens during the residency?

Each morning you'll work alongside an experienced Creative Translator, exploring how Kernewek can influence rhythm, imagery, dialogue, character and storytelling.

Afternoons are yours to write, reflect, collaborate, experiment or simply draw inspiration from the extraordinary surroundings of St Endellion.

As well as dedicated creative time, you'll spend the week living and working alongside three other creatives, sharing ideas, conversations and new perspectives.

How to apply

Please email the following to ellie@endelienta.org.uk by Monday 3 August 2026:

• A creative proposal (maximum two A4 pages) outlining:

  • what you'd like to explore

  • why you're interested in working creatively with Kernewek

  • how living and working alongside other creatives might influence your practice

  • what you'll bring to the residency community

• Up to three examples of your work

• A short introductory video (maximum three minutes) instead of a CV
