Residencies

Residencies

We run a series of paid residencies for artists at different stage of their careers. They are an opportunity to develop your creative practice and grow as an artist. We understand how difficult it can be finding time to develop new work, particularly early in a career, and are dedicated to supporting artists with paid time to focus entirely on their art. Each residency involves spending time staying in the Glebe Farmhouse with two to three other artists. This has led to some beautiful work by previous residents and the support of emerging and established artists from across the UK including Deborah Westmancoat, Alex Groves, Olivia Lowry and more.
We also support groups to come on residency with us, whether through hiring our spaces directly or a paid residency to develop new work. A recent example of this is the development of the Breselor Ensemble working on new work in the Cornish Language, who with support from us during a residency won the Grand Bard’s Medal for service to Cornish Culture.

Cornish Language Residencies

We run an annual Cornish Language Residency in partnership with Lowender, and Cornwall Council. On this, artists who want to work in the Cornish Language spend each morning learning the language with experts and then each afternoon working on developing new pieces using Kernewek. To date the residencies have produced 16 original songs in Cornish, one long form poem and have been the catalyst for the further development of music and poetry in Cornish.
