Music and Memories: A Story in Stitch

Music and Memories: A Story in Stitch was a creative project for people living with dementia and their carers.

Supported by Awards for All, the project took place in Wadebridge, Camelford and Bodmin. The project started with a session facilitated by the touring musicians of Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, using music to delve into memories. This was followed by a series of textile workshops, led by artist Janie McDonald. The project resulted in an exhibition of memory textiles in the Betjeman Centre, Wadebridge.

North Cornwall Story Box

The North Cornwall Story Box was a project exploring storytelling, story making and storycollecting with individuals and groups in North Cornwall.

Stories are full of magic and richness - they connect people to place and to each other, and deserve to be collected and treasured. In this project we have worked with five schools and two community groups. Four artists helped children and local people to delve into local histories and anecdotes, with wonderful results.

The project was made possible with Heritage Lottery Funding and a contribution from the Coop in Port Isaac.

Story Exchange

For this project, children from across three primary schools worked with a puppeteer and a printmaker to create shadow-puppet stories.

These were performed to the Golden Circle pensioner group in Port Isaac. Meanwhile, Golden Circle recounted their life stories, which were incorporated into a shadow puppet performance by the students. This project engaged around 60 primary school students and 20 older people.
