Concert: Saturday 18 August, 7.30pm, St Endellion Church
Karitas comprises three singers from Normandy who share a passion for the rich style and colour of medieval choral music (continental and English). The group performs works from the 9th to 14th centuries, from both popular sources and the highly skilled musicians of the courts and churches, with a mix of sacred and secular songs from plainchant to troubadour songs (accompanied by Celtic harp). The repertoire includes works by Guillaume de Machaut, Hildegard of Bingen, and pieces from the ‘Chansonnier de Bayeux’- a collection of popular songs from Normandy, harmonised according to the rules of the period.
Workshop led by Karitas 3-5pm. A fun session taking participants through a range of the group’s repertoire. No experience necessary. You do not need to read music.
Please note that this concert can be booked in combination with the afternoon workshop.
