Baka Beyond – 25th Anniversary Tour
Friday 2 November, 7.30pm, St Endellion Church
Baka Beyond – the original Afro-Celtic dance band inspired by the music of the rainforest, come to St Endellion as part of a national tour to celebrate 25 years of groundbreaking music-making and recording a worldwide. Originally inspired by the music of the Baka people of the Cameroon rain forest, the band use Baka rhythms to fuse the members’ Celtic and African roots, bringing musicians from different cultures and backgrounds together. The resulting music is highly infectious and crosses boundaries of genre, age and ethnicity. One thing is for certain: you won’t be able to keep still!
The rhythms of the Baka people resonate with musical styles from all around the world. Baka Beyond’s new live show conveys the sense of joyous celebration carried in these rhythms. The show will also include a multi-media element with videos of the Cameroon rainforest projected behind the band, synchronised with the live music.
The band members still regularly visit the Baka and support the community through their charity Global Music Exchange.
“It was impossible to resist the relentlessly upbeat nature of the music. There were big smiles on screen, on stage and in the audience as the music progressed to a final grand dance with everyone standing and moving to the intoxicating rhythm.” The Bristol Post
Please note: whilst there is fixed seating available, this is predominantly a standing event.
