Opportunity: Cornish Language Residency at Endelienta

We have an exciting residency opportunity available this June! With support from Arts Council England and Cornwall Council, and in partnership with Lowender Peran we are hosting a short residency for creatives to work with a Cornish language expert to further their creative practice. We welcome composers, musicians, singers and writers to take part in this residency which will last for 6 days working on location at St Endellion in June 2022. A stipend of up to £600 per individual is available, plus travel expenses, for the selected creatives to work with the Cornish language expert. Accommodation and workspace is provided for on site.

The purpose of this residency is to support the selected candidates to develop the use of the Cornish language in their creative practice. This is not intended simply as a translation service. They will have access to a Cornish language expert during the residency. The only mandatory outcome is that the work is in the Cornish language, there is no limitation with regard to subject matter. We expect participants to make a presentation at the end of the residential week.

We are able to work with three creatives on this project. Groups of more than three individuals are welcome to apply, but the maximum allocation is £1,800. Individuals would not be required to work with other residency participants, and all participants will have equal access to the Cornish language expert. However, we encourage collaborative working with other residency participants as part of the process.

Job Vacancy: Marketing & Administration Coordinator

Endelienta are seeking a new Marketing & Administration Coordinator. This new role will oversee the marketing & administration of our concert, reflective days and outreach programmes as well as contribute to the marketing of the North Cornwall Book Festival. This is an interesting and varied role that will suit someone experienced in arts marketing or a recent graduate looking to take their first step into the arts industry.

This is a part time freelance role, initially for 6 months, renewable subject to available funding.

Freelance Creative Workshop Facilitators

 

Endelienta are looking to expand our pool of freelance creative workshop facilitators.  We have workshops with North Cornwall Primary schools for 2021/2022 within the strands of our performance programme; music/composition, visual art and literature/storytelling.

We are looking for freelancers who are exciting and inspiring to deliver half day immersive workshops to actively involve the children and engage them in the work.

The theme for this series of workshops is Place.  The workshops may be linked to the other 2 disciplines but may also function as stand-alone sessions. We are looking for facilitators who provide a positive and inclusive experience for the children and also aim for the sessions to inspire and develop the teachers’ skills.

Endelienta are passionate about excellence in the arts and offer opportunities for inspiration, learning, enjoyment and creativity to schools’ families and community groups. Our aim is to deliver 30 creative workshops with primary schools over the next 2 years.

All freelancers will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check as well as possessing their own public liability insurance.

We have partial funding in place so initially are looking for 3 facilitators to work with 5 schools starting in Autumn 2021. The fee is £800 per person and includes planning and evaluation time.

Job Vacancy: Artistic Director/General Manager

New Artistic Director / General Manager for Endelienta

 

Endelienta is looking for a talented Artistic Director/General Manager to lead and manage its quality programme.

Now approaching its 9th birthday, Endelienta has been successful in establishing a thriving year-round programme at St Endellion and North Cornwall.  The new director/manager will have to nurture the organisation through the difficult Covid-19 times.   The 2020 North Cornwall Book Festival, one of the jewels in Endelienta’s crown, has had to be postponed, along with the two classical music festivals run by Endelienta’s sister charity, the St Endellion Festivals Trust.   At present, a much-curtailed programme of concerts, with small socially-distanced audiences, is happening through the autumn, but we have not been able to proceed with a planned community outreach music composition project in schools, nor with our rich reflective days, nor with the annual cross-arts residency, nor with our art exhibitions.  Our monthly Make Club is still happening, and our Book Club and Poetry Club are happening on line, and each week, the Book Festival is publishing a short video featuring the writers who were originally coming to the 2020 Book Festival – most of whom we hope will be able to come in 2021.

It will be the Director/Manager’s job to lead the organisation’s staff and volunteers through these strange times, maximising the opportunities to provide live performance to sustain the artistic experience of its growing audiences and the livelihoods of the artistic community.

This is a 6 month fixed-term 0.6 freelance contract for £1500 per month, renewable subject to available funding.

Coronavirus Update

An update from the St Endellion Easter Festival and Endelienta –

 

 

St Endellion Easter Festival – from Suzanne Doyle and Katy Thomson, Co-Chairs

It is with heavy hearts we announce that we must cancel the 2020 St Endellion Easter Festival, owing to the potential impact of Coronavirus on the people and place we hold so dear.  Following consultation with the Church Wardens at St Endellion and the Trustees of St Endellion Festivals Trust, we have decided it would be irresponsible to continue with the 2020 Easter Festival.

We are acutely aware of the problems this cancellation could cause and would like to apologise for any inconvenience. We hope you will understand how hard we have worked to avoid this situation: sadly, it is now beyond our control.  In the Festival’s entire 47-year history, this is only the second time we’ve ever had to cancel (the last time was because of the Foot and Mouth disease crisis), so this really is a last resort.

If you wish to obtain a refund for your tickets, please send an email to the Minack Theatre Box Office – info@minack.com – or phone them on 01736 810181.   You will need to state your name, the dates of the concerts for which you had purchased tickets, and their value.

However, as the Festival’s insurance doesn’t cover pandemics, we are looking at a potential loss running into many thousands of pounds, so if you felt able to donate your ticket price, or a portion of it, to help the festival to cover costs, we would be enormously grateful for your generosity.   If you wish to donate the full value of your tickets, please send an email to catherine.sandbrook@endellionfestivals.org.uk or phone her on 01840 214613 giving your name, the dates of the concerts for which you had purchased tickets, and their value.   Contacting Catherine rather than the Minack Theatre will save the Festival from paying them further administrative charges. If you wish to donate a portion of the ticket value and obtain a part refund, please contact the Minack as above, specifying which tickets you would like refunded, and which not.

Endelienta Summer Season – From Ian Sandbrook, Chair

For the same reasons as described above, we are very sorry that we have to cancel Endelienta concerts and reflective days through until the end of April.  It is very likely that events in May will also be cancelled so we shall not put tickets on sale for these at this stage.   Please watch the website to monitor the situation.

You will see from our website that we had programmed a full summer season. We hope that by June we will be able to open our doors again, and all June and July events are listed on our website.   As and when our programme restarts, you will be able to purchase tickets on our website or on the door.   We will of course update you about our plans in our monthly mailing.
